Cycle “Equatorial Guinea and the Catalan colonial past” at the UAB

Equatorial Guinea became independent from Spain in 1968. During colonization, Barcelona served as a colonial metropolis and many Catalan families exploited the territory economically. Now, this African country lives under one of the longest-lived and most repressive dictatorships in the world, that of Teodoro Obiang, a military man trained in Zaragoza. At the UAB, they reflect on the impact on the present of our colonial past through talks, theater, cinema and an exhibition.

Direction: Lupe Romero.
Steering committee: Mar Garcia and Associació Fora de Quadre.
